Islamic Calendar: November 2026 falls in Jumada al-Awwal and Jumada al-Thani, 1448 AH. These are outside Ramadan and Hajj season. That means November can offer good availability and more manageable prices than peak pilgrimage periods.
Makkah Weather: Daytime temperatures average around 33 to 35 degrees. Nights cool down to around 22 to 24 degrees. Humidity averages around 55 percent. It is warm but nothing like the extreme summer heat you get in July and August.
Madinah Weather: Daytime temperatures are around 29 to 31 degrees. Nights can drop to around 17 to 18 degrees. Early mornings can feel cool, particularly later in November. You will need a light jacket or warm shawl for early morning prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque.
Crowd Level: Generally lower than Ramadan and Hajj periods, although crowd levels vary by date, hotel location, prayer time and visitor demand. November can be a good choice for pilgrims who prefer a less intense experience.

British Airways currently lists London Heathrow to Jeddah at around 6 hours 15 minutes direct. Visa Processing: UK citizens can use the Saudi Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for Umrah outside the Hajj season. Other nationalities and UK residents travelling on non-UK passports may have different visa requirements.
Best Travel Window: November 8 to 21 can be a useful period to consider if you want to travel after the main UK October half-term period and before the December travel period. Flight and hotel prices still depend on live availability.

The heat is bearable. In July and August, walking from your hotel to the Haram feels like walking into an oven. The marble around the Kaaba can become extremely hot during the day. In November, temperatures are much more manageable, particularly in the evening. Many pilgrims find the cooler conditions make Tawaf, Sa’i and walking between the hotel and Haram easier.
The crowds can be lighter. During Ramadan, the Haram becomes exceptionally busy. In November, crowd levels are generally lower than the busiest pilgrimage periods, although the Haram can still become busy around prayer times. This can make November a good choice for anyone travelling with parents or young children.

London Heathrow (LHR): British Airways currently operates direct London Heathrow to Jeddah services, with a listed flight time of around 6 hours 15 minutes. Saudia and other carriers may also be available depending on the travel date. Prices vary according to availability, baggage and booking date.
London Gatwick (LGW): A strong secondary London option with competitive fares and good connections. One-stop options can provide additional flexibility depending on your dates and airline.
London Stansted (STN): Connecting options may be available through Istanbul and other hubs. These can sometimes be cheaper, but the trade-off can be longer total travel time and additional airport transfer time.
Manchester (MAN): A major departure point for pilgrims in the North of England. We can arrange available flight options from Manchester, including direct or connecting services depending on your travel dates.
Birmingham (BHX): A convenient departure point for pilgrims from Birmingham, Coventry and the wider Midlands region. Flight options depend on the exact date and airline schedule.
Glasgow (GLA): Options can be more limited than from London, Manchester and Birmingham. Most available routes may involve a connection. We recommend comparing options early if you are flying from Glasgow, as seat availability can be more limited.
Once you land in Jeddah, you have several options for reaching Makkah and then travelling between Makkah and Madinah.
Haramain High-Speed Train (Jeddah Airport to Makkah): This is our top recommendation where the timetable suits your journey. The Haramain railway connects Jeddah Airport with Makkah and other major stations. Journey times and fares depend on the service and booking class. Book your ticket in advance because trains can become busy on popular travel dates.
Haramain Train (Makkah to Madinah): The journey is around 2 hours 30 minutes, depending on the service. Fares vary by class and travel date. Business class is available and provides a more spacious option. This is far more comfortable than a long taxi journey for many pilgrims.
VIP Bus Transfer (Makkah to Madinah): If you want to save money, bus services can provide a lower-cost alternative to private transport. Journey times are longer than the Haramain train, but they can be useful for budget travellers.
Private Taxi: A private car from Jeddah airport to Makkah provides door-to-door convenience. Private transport can also be arranged between Makkah and Madinah. Prices depend on vehicle type, number of passengers, luggage and travel date.
